Eureka and Larwood Cups Sep 2013

The Eureka Cup is the annual tournament between BTC and RMTC men’s teams for mainland tennis supremacy; the Larwood is the female equivalent .The date was set for this annual event when there was going to be a federal election on the following weekend. RMTC would retain both cups as usual then return to Melbourne at a leisurely pace to vote for Julia or Tony on the next Saturday … a good plan.

Boy, this plan went pear-shaped quickly … just ask Eddie Obeid what it’s like. The election of the 14th changed to the day of the match. Julia changed to Kevin and the senate ticket changed to the Motoring Enthusiasts versus Clive Palmer. In the midst of this chaos, BTC, perpetual losers to teams with and without courts, smacked RMTC 8/3 in the Eureka and 9/1 in the Larwood. As Yogi Berra quipped … the future ain’t what it used to be.
