The Boomerang Cup – the largest amateur international Real Tennis tournament – is coming up fast, for two busy weeks in January: 7-21, and hosted at Royal Melbourne Tennis Club. As the first Boomerang since 2020 due to COVID travel restrictions, it’s an eagerly awaited event from players around the world.
The 2023 Boomerang will include four teams with a significant BTC player involvement: The Wanderers, the Nuggets, the (Balla)Rats and the Lolas. All the teams are now getting into gear, even during the festive season.
On Saturday 17th December players from all teams organised a practice afternoon event, with matches off match handicaps, and marking of all game. It was a great event, with players also chipping in lunch and afternoon tea, and rotating marking duties. We were very glad to have new BTC Professional Paul Tabley in attendance to offer some guidance under match play conditions.
Please get behind our Boomerang teams – we’ll keep news updates both here, and on the BTC Facebook page during the event.
Also, don’t be surprised to see some international players at BTC during the Boomerang – we’ll be welcoming any teams wishing to see the court and do some practice games on their off-days.
