BTC’s top four players headed down to Hobart last weekend to take on the very best of our southern counter-parts. The Widmer-Bradfield Cup is now into its 3rd year and has been designed to give our best and most promising players the opportunity for much needed match practice – and to foster hot inter-club rivalry.
BTC representatives Daniel Williams, Wayne Spring, David Parker and Mark Hartnell all headed to Hobart on Friday night – amid great expectations for a terrific weekend of tennis.
The Widmer-Bradfield Cup consists of four best of 5 set singles games and two best of 5 set doubles matches. Match scores for the weekend were as follows:
SATURDAY 20TH
10.00 J RACKHAM V MARK HARTNELL 6/2 6/3 4/6 6/2
12.00 G BRADFIELD V DAVID PARKER 4/6 6/2 6/1 6/1
2.00 H BOOTH V WAYNE SPRING 6/3 6/3 6/0
4.00 A RAMSAY V DANIEL WILLIAMS 5/6 6/5 6/1 4/6 6/1

12.30 G.Bradfield/H Booth v W Spring/D Parker 6/4 6/3 6/3
As you can see from the results, our boys put in a terrific effort – but ran into a well practiced and in-form group of Hobart players. After winning the event last year – the BTC boys will now have to train hard to put the Cup back into its rightful position in the BTC trophy cabinet. The stage is set for 2011!!
